This is an interesting look at the evolution and direction the music industry is heading in. 8 tracks, cassettes, vinyl? All seem to have gone the way of the dinosaur. Tower Records? Gone! Sam Goody? Finished! I know I donated a good portion of my youth’s spending to stacks of records, cassettes,CDs and even some 8 tracks. That’s right, I said it, 8 tracks.
(I really am dating myself on this one.) I really can’t complain though. With the digital age of music downloads, file sharing and I Tunes, I have a lot more room on my shelves and there is a lot less plastic jewel cases filing up the landfills. Truth be told, I still miss the feeling of walking into a record store and sifting through all that vinyl and the beautiful artwork that graced the covers. Makes one wonder – where and how will we get our music thirty years from now?
I can only imagine-just as long as there is plenty of it.
