Bad Mad Ads

Many New York residents and commuters are finding the new Mad Men ads offensive. The images shown on giant billboards are a direct play off of Mad Men’s opening sequence, and they feature Don Draper “falling" in the figurative sense.

Although this image of Draper falling through space has been used since the show began to represent a man whose life is in turmoil, many people – especially the families of those who perished in 9/11 – feel like the visual evokes tragic memories.

Insensitive or a stretch? Either way, these ads are getting attention.
