Live Mas — and think INSIDE the bun while you’re at it.


So that’s it? Taco Bell is ready to give “Think Outside the Bun” the boot? I’ve grown fond of this clever tagline that has been drilled into our heads. Perhaps we’re not privy to the horrible things this slogan has caused… I mean, why else would Taco Bell discard this advertising gem like a soggy taco shell? 

OK, I’m over it. Let’s talk about “Live Mas.” Yes, I get the mixing of English and Spanish going on here. And aurally it sounds ok. But visually – well, it looks like a sign you’d see outside a country road store advertising worms for sale. Live Bait. Yes, when typed “Live Mas” makes me think there is a group of living (thankfully) mothers gathered somewhere.

Only time (and a lot of Taco Bell money) will tell if this new slogan does it for the American fast food-buying public. But while their tacos are so yummy that people would probably patronize the king of the taco chain despite even a horrible campaign, the advertiser inside is shedding a tiny tear for the loss of a great line.
