HBO’s True Blood marketing team has turned a Romanian city fountain into a blood bath to promote the fourth season of the vampire series. Truly effective, but makes me want to gag a little. 

The same advertising stunt was executed four years ago at the Paris Resort in Las Vegas to promote the second season of Showtime’s Dexter. (In addition to turning the fountain water blood red, a lab coat-clad street team distributed Dexter– branded swag.)

Both really cool stunts – but props go to the originator. (Note to promoters: do a quick scan of the internet to make sure your big idea hasn’t already been done.)
